If you like a fragrance, buy it before the suits realize they need to reformulate it. They should have killed RG instead of reformulating.īoth Or Black and Beau de Jour (Private Blend) also have amazing shaving cream notes, but now they've gone and reformulated BdJ too with tons of ambrox, screechy geranium and some sort of metallic freshness for the Signature Line. On the bright side, I would 100% recommend CaD over the glass bottles of Rive Gauche - I don't know what the fuck they were thinking. The raw materials are just better, but so is the blending - it's a Jacques Cavallier fragrance after all. The patchouli and spice notes are also "bigger" and more meaty in RG. Rive Gauche pour Homme by Yves Saint Laurent is a discontinued masculine Aromatic Fougere fragrance created in 2003 by perfumer Jacques Cavallier and has a. They share a lot of the same notes (geranium, patchouli, oakmoss), but the tin can RG has an amazing, soapy shaving cream "foam" note, and some other soft musks that round out the geranium and oakmoss. I don't think CaD smells like Rive Gauche though. I have both the aftershave splash (VERY mentholated) and the EdP, which is closer to Rive Gauche. This fragrance comes in a 75 ml / 2.5 fl oz size that is easy to handle and store. Compatible with almost any setting or situation, this scent is a great option for all-day wear. I wore it a lot when I first purchased it. Lightly scented and refreshing, the eau de toilette formulation contains less aromatic oils than heavier scents. I'm really glad for anyone enjoying CaD - it's really well priced and hits the spot as an aftershave-type thing: bracing, fresh and masculine.
